The
1930s saw the country through the
great depression. Fashion
wasn't incredibly important during
the 1930s as people were simply
struggling to survive. I think
that is why when we think of the
style of 1930s, we typically think
of the same things that were popular
in the 1920s. Every other era
has a very specific look that it is
known for except for the 1930s.
In history, women like Eleanor
Roosevelt and Amelia Earhart started
making more of an impact on society
and taking on more stereotypical
"masculine" roles, therefore,
menswear continued to gain
popularity throughout the 1930s.
Art Deco, Feathers and Fur also
gained popularity throughout the
1930s.

FASHION
Although dropped waist "flapper"
dresses continued to be seen
throughout the 1930s, for the most
part, hemlines and necklines
dropped. The 30s really was a
perfect transition between the 1920s
and the 1940s as you began to see
more slinky flowing fabrics in
longer styles with "V" necks that
continued into the 1940s. You
also began to see more backless
dresses. Fashion during the
day was an eclectic mix of brighter
colors and more intricate patterns
alongside styles in more neutral
colors seen in the 1920s such as
stone, beige, cream and navy.

style of the 1930s (with a modern
twist). Fur and feathers also

Remember, unless you are trying to
create an authentic 1930s themed
wedding, mixing and matching looks
from different eras can look great
as long as you follow some basic
guidelines. The 1940s and
1920s styles
obviously work well with the 1930s.
The styles were very similar and
easily interchanged. For some
